Skin surgery is part of my clinical practice every single day. In modern Dermatology it is not possible to separate the General Dermatology consultation from Dermatological Surgery. Where there is suspicion, diagnostic uncertainty or a need for removal, an incisional (partial) or excisional (complete) removal of the skin lesion is carried out, with the sample subsequently sent for histological analysis. Lasers have taken on a leading role in dermatology, and the Dermatology specialist is the doctor with the greatest training/aptitude for their use.
